Graphic Design

What is graphic design and what color scheme is best for your business?

In color theory, a color scheme is the choice of colors used in design for a range of media. Color schemes can contain different “Monochromatic” shades of a single color; for example, a color scheme that mixes different shades of green, ranging from very light (white), to very neutral (gray), to very dark (black).

Some consider white and black to be considered colors, because white light comprises all hues on the visible light spectrum, and black because you combine other pigments to create it on paper. But in a technical sense, black and white are not colors, they are shades.

Color is used to attract attention, group related elements, convey meaning, and generally enhance the aesthetics of your site. It can be used to organize your elements and create a visual hierarchy in your design. A small dose of color that contrasts with your main color will draw attention.

Color theory is both the science and art of using color. It explains how humans perceive color, and the visual effects of how colors mix, match or contrast with each other. In color theory, colors are organized on a color wheel and grouped into three categories: primary colors, secondary colors and tertiary colors. The basic principle of the color wheel starts with three primary colors – red, yellow and blue. Secondary colors are green, orange and purple. Tertiary colors are combinations of primary and secondary colors. There are six tertiary colors; red-orange, yellow-orange, yellow-green, blue-green, blue-violet, and red-violet. Primary colors are the basis for all other colors and any color can be made using a combination of primary colors.

Graphic design is vast! There are different aspects to color and design. Other aspects are:  lettering, and logo’s. More explanation on those will come later.
